Our History

Pro/Craft Contracting, Inc. completed is very first project as a company in July of 1997. It was from that first, small project, that Pro/Craft Contracting was born. Over the next decade, the company has grown, developed, and learned much. Starting as a painting company that did the occasional handyman job and slowly transforming over the years to a full service remodeling company has been quite a journey.

Company founder Mark Lewis got his start in the contracting business through real estate. In the 1980's, he and several family members started a successful property investment and management company that specialized in buying and rehabbing single family and small apartment buildings. Mark developed an interest in residential remodeling and began to educate himself on both the business and the craft. He earned the prestigious Certified Remodeler and Certified Kitchen and Bath Remodeler from the National Association of the Remodeling Industry. He earned an electricians license. And he guided his company to Accreditation with the Painting and Decorating Contractors of America. Education was and is a cornerstone of the company and its' people.

Pro/Craft has gone through a number of transformations over the years, continually working to improve itself. Most recently, the decision was made to focus the company and the team on strictly remodeling, regretfully dropping both its' painting and handyman divisions. The team has the strong belief that by concentrating on doing just major remodels, it will be able to deliver the best experience and the best craftsmanship possible. In late 2008, Pro/Craft will be moving into their new headquarters in Lake Villa, IL. This move will further enhance the services provided by adding a showroom, better meeting facilities, and even bigger shop areas. Pro/Craft is a company on the move and is working hard to be the best it can be.

"I love working for a company that has been around the block a few times. You know they are going to be there for you"
